Determine the number of mats required to complete the project (mats are produced in 2' x 2' sections).
Refer to Table 1 to determine base layer and how deep to dig. Your local landscape store can assist in determining the proper materials to use as a base. Figure 2 is a cross section of a standard installation. |
Prepare The Area
Mark the area
(use a string line, powdered chalk, or flexible hose).
Clear the area
(remove grass, sod, or organic materials).

Dig It!
Dig to the suggested depth determined in Step 1 using Table 1.
If no base layer is required then proceed to Step 4. Otherwise, backfill with necessary base to within 4.5 inches of the surface with a well compacted and leveled granular base material.
This is the time in which to install any irrigation or lighting system. |
